Dyke Weekend has always been an event for queer women to come together and summon their collective power by sharing ideas, building new friendships, strengthening our community, and supporting each other through educational workshops, delectable BBQs, titillating musical and theatrical performances, as well as throwing legendary after-parties.
The organizers of DWE have decided that it’s time to gather our spirit of successful community-building, and invite all the other members of Japan’s fabulous queer community to join in the fun. DWE occurs several times a year, often as women-only events. However, in lieu of Tokyo Rainbow Week’s collaborative efforts of connecting sexual minorities as a team to promote awareness of various LGBT issues in Japan, DWE organizers decided that opening the 2013 Saitama weekend event to all of the queer community would be an exciting endeavor.
We think this would be a superb opportunity to hold an event where everyone can come together in a safe, open environment to share their experiences and learn about issues facing our LGBTQ community.
Everybody interested in listening and speaking about any queer topics are welcome to attend.
