UPDATE May 2nd [English]

The Women’s Education Center had some cancellations, and we now have about 10 extra spaces for both Friday and Saturday night. Please email dwebooking@gmail.com if you’re interested in coming.

Friday

As you approach the center’s gates, you will see a guard. From the parking lot, you can see a giant Rainbow flag. That is the registration area. Check-in is available from 1pm. Room keys are available after 3pm.

We’ll have a welcome dinner at 6pm, then some workshops and chilling time.

The gates close at 10pm. If you plan to arrive later than that, please arrange the details with one of the organizers.

Saturday

*It is also possible to only attend the BBQ on Saturday if you’d like. It will start at 1pm and end at 5pm. There will be meat and vegetarian options. Please RVSP [dwebooking@gmail.com] by Friday, so we can purchase enough food for everyone.

8:am: Yoga/Jogging

10am: Morning Meeting [and breakfast bread and coffee]

12pm: Preparing BBQ

1pm-5pm: Barbecue by the river near the center [across the bridge]

7pm-9pm: Dance party in the gym—-or games

10pm: Room parties

Sunday

10am: Morning Meeting and Check-out

We can stay around after checking out until we’re ready to leave.

————-Special Announcement about Noise and Trash———————–

These two things ALWAYS get us in trouble with the center. Please keep your room trash and dump it at the conbini at the station before going home. Please don’t leave it in your rooms.

Also, during the BBQ, please separate your trash. We’ll try to make it as easy and un-confusing as possible.

And during the night, let’s try to be a little more quiet after 10pm.

After we contact the Workshop organizers to learn their schedule, we’ll post up the schedule for Workshops.

Please write dwebooking@gmail.com if there’s anything I missed.

Thank you!

Herstory The Women’s International Group first gathered lesbian, bi and trans women for a weekend of politics and advocacy in 1985 for a Dyke Weekend (DWE). The gatherings grew to 3 to 4 weekends, and over time, DWE became a rite of passage for all lesbian, bi and trans women in Japan. Today, DWE is still active in bringing together queer women for weekends, which have grown to include workshops, seminars, guest speakers, sports and the much anticipated BBQ. DWE is a safe and encouraging space for women to explore, relax, contribute and catch up with the queer community. DWE is an entirely volunteer run group of women interested in keeping queer women connected in Japan and keeping the queer community in Japan connected to the queer dialogue. All ideas and support are welcome and necessary to keep the DWE epic! Keep in touch! dykeweekendjapan@gmail.com
